About the Author

Chris loves to sail the open seas, brave the fiercest storms, and slay the deadliest dragons…. Or, at least, that’s what his boyish imagination would tell you. In the real world, he is a husband, father, and police sergeant with a vivid imagination and a passion for writing.

Chris can get lost for hours, or even days, inside his “nothing box,” which (he reminds his patient wife) is actually a very active place! Within this invisible realm, Chris perceives the human heart as a vast ocean, with all of its trouncing waves and tempests. He writes and re-writes every line to paint it in the mind’s eye.

Chris’ poetry is guided by a deep faith and a growing love for the beauty of language. He admires Longfellow for the moral depth of his narratives, and Poe for his masterful use of poetic devices. He longs to see more poets return to these classic styles, which have endured for centuries because of their intrinsic value.
